Why I started a business during a pandemic
I always dreamt of opening a competitive cheer gym someday. What I realized during the COVID-19 pandemic was the Tri-Cities was lacking in a neutral space for all athletes to train and feel welcome. Local families, competitive athletes, and those just looking for recreational activity, were having a hard time finding the right acrobatic gym. I also realized that opening a gym should be sooner rather than later due to lack of activity with State lockdowns. There was a need for a gym with great equipment and high-level coaching with an atmosphere that encourages learning and skill advancement, regardless of a team connection. I saw that need. So, with no hesitation, I just went for it!
I started a business in the activity I’m most passionate about - teaching acrobatic sports. I drove to Seattle and purchased top-quality equipment from several gyms that were shutting down during the pandemic.
The Academy of Acrobatic Sports provides the physical and mental stimulation that young minds and bodies need.
All members learn/practice critical interpersonal and physical skills, transferable to anything they do in life. For example, our tumblers and recreation “kiddos” will learn how to share, take direction, increase their balance, coordination, and so much more. Our acrobatic athletes will learn the skills needed to reach the next level in whatever sport they are in. They’ll learn tricks and techniques I didn’t have access to until I left for college. They will practice their skills in an encouraging atmosphere, and learn how to push through adversities and visualize their success.
I started the Academy of Acrobatic Sports in the midst of a pandemic because my hometown needs and deserves it. This is a clean, controlled, positive environment for those wanting to learn and advance in any sport that involves mobility and agility. I invite you to find a class you connect with and join me today!
